What is a microchip?
The easiest way to reunite lost pets with their owners is through a microchip! A microchip is a small sterile chip, no larger than a grain of rice, implanted between the shoulder blades of the animal. It is a quick procedure that feels like just another vaccine to your pet. The microchip has a unique number that is stored in a national database that links your pet with your contact information.
We offer microchip services during our Community Clinic hours for only $15!
How does it work?
Each microchip has a unique number that displays when your pet is scanned. This number links to your account in the Petlink database and will provide animal control officers, shelters, and veterinary clinics with your contact information.
Cache Humane’s microchips come with lifetime registration for your pet through Petlink. This means you will not be charged to update your contact information if you move or change phone numbers.
Please remember to keep all microchip contact information up to date. Update your contact information here.
*Microchips should always be updated directly with the relevant microchip company. While several websites offer free or discount microchip registration, their content is often not shared with the national databases used by animal welfare professionals.
Cache Humane strives to confirm all microchip information prior to reclaim or adoption, but makes no guarantee that microchip data can or will be used to determine ownership.
Cache Humane offers affordable, humane end-of-life services for your beloved family member when they are facing unrecoverable illness or injury.*
