Position: Dog Kennel Technician
Reports to: Dog Manager
Hours: Part Time Positions Available
Hourly Pay: $12/hour+
Description:
Cache Humane Society operates a no-kill animal shelter and affordable spay/neuter clinic in Logan, Utah. We are centrally located in a welcoming community with fantastic outdoor access, a renown public university and affordable living.
Our non-profit facility adopts out over 1,500 pets and sterilizes over 2,000 animals each year. We believe all companion animals deserve to be treated with dignity and compassion and we strive to provide a welcoming, safe, and humane experience for animals in our care.
We are looking to add compassionate individuals to our dog staff! Our Dog Kennel Technicians provide care to our shelter animals and assist in adoptions to find them forever homes.
Key Responsibilities:
Dog Kennel Assistants help maintain a healthy environment and sanitary conditions for all dogs housed at the shelter, which includes:
- Following all cleaning and safety protocols
- Working with interested adopters to identify potential pets
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date files on all dogs
- Working in coordination with a variety of people including staff from other departments, volunteers,
- Being available to assist with off-site special events as needed
Additional Responsibilities:
- A general knowledge of animal care
- Experience providing exceptional public service
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff and volunteers
Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:
- 1+ years of animal care experience
- Experience working in a high volume animal care facility
- Education related to animal care and health issues
Physical Requirements:
This position requires that the employee be capable of handling the following physical demands and come in contact with the following environmental work conditions:
- Be able to lift 50 pounds
- Be able to stand and reach for extended periods of time
- come in contact with pet dander, fluids produced by animals and various chemicals used to provide sanitary living conditions for animals
- Handle various environmental smells and sounds surrounding the housing of animals and maintaining their welfare
- Lift, lead and place animals as they are moved between carriers, kennels and care areas
Schedule:
Flexible hours available up to 20 hours a week. Must be available some weekends.
