Best Friends Are Made at Cache Humane!

Meeting Your New Best Friend is Easy:

Cache Humane Society is here to help homeless pets in need find their new, loving families. We encourage visitors to stop by Monday through Saturday during our open hours to see all of our adoptable dogs and cats. Below is our standard adoption process and some things to keep in mind when visiting Cache Humane Society and meeting your new pet.

Step 1: Stop By!

We have lots of pets waiting for their new homes. If you want to meet them up close, don’t hesitate to come by. Our adoptions are done on a first come first serve basis and we love sending pets home the same day!

In our Kitty Cabana or Bow Wow Boulevard, we ask that every visitor reads the room rules before interacting with the animals. Once you’ve come in and decided on an animal or two that you want to get to know a little bit better, let our staff know you want a Meet and Greet! If you are interested in playing with the animals, but can’t adopt, consider becoming a volunteer!

Step 2: The Meet & Greet

In your Meet & Greet, our Adoption Counselors will bring the animal to you so you can interact with them. They will help answer all of your questions, tell you all they know about the animals, and suggest others that might be a good fit for you. During your Meet & Greet, please listen to our Adoption Counselor’s verbal instructions when it comes to handling the animals.

Shelters can be stressful places for animals and they may not always show their true personalities. Be sure to ask the Adoption Counselor plenty of questions and spend some time with your new potential pet. They may be a little shy or aloof here, but chances are they have had some one on one time with staff or volunteers and they would be happy to share all their experience with your potential pet.

When meeting potential new pets, be sure to tell the Adoption Counselor about your home. Think about the pets you have at home or maybe you have kids. Do you want something cuddly, playful, independent, or a little bit of everything? Will your animal go inside and outside? Our counselors want to make sure you get your perfect match!

If you are here to meet a dog, it is a good idea to bring your dog (if you have them) with you so you know how everyone will get along with each other. Cat’s are a bit more particular, we recommend you to do first introductions with new cats and existing pets at home after the adoption. Don’t worry, we give you a hand out to help make at home introductions smooth. We encourage you to bring any family members, children, household members or friends to come to your meet and greet. The more the merrier!

Step 3: Adopt!

So you’ve met your new pet, asked all your questions, and decided it was a perfect fit. Now it is time to take them home! We love to send animals home the same day and encourage same day adoptions. When you adopt an animal from Cache Humane Society, that animal is fixed, vaccinated and microchipped. You will receive all medical and behavioral records, and a small bag of food.
